Jiri to Everest base camp trek is counts as one of the most admirable hiking route in Everest region because it follows the same route as the two well-known figures Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzin Norgey Sherpa took on way to their first ascend to Mt. Everest in 1953. Lower part of this hiking route is now quieter and quite undeveloped compare to the Khumbu valley above Lukla. Offering plenty of opportunity to experience the varieties of traditional aspect of culture and local people, this trekking route overtakes several rural communities of diverse ethnic group such as: Brahmin, Tamang, Jirel, Rai, Magar, Chhetri and none other than the Sherpa.
The trail continues to Everest base camp following the same itinerary as the combined trip of Everest Chola pass via Namche Bazaar and Gokyo valley from a village near Lukla named Chheplung.
